Billy Brake Inzektor Deck List Review 2012 YCS Chicago Third Place

YuGiOh Card Game Inzektor HornetAs we all know PRIORITY, the ability to activate ignition effects without the opponent responding to the summon, is now gone. With that information in hand many anticipated the Inzektor deck to rise from the top 3 decks and take the number 1 spot. Unfortionatley that did not happen in YCS Chicago.

Congrats to 2 time YCS winner, Billy Brake, for his dominating a field of over 1,100 people and taking 3rd place with his main and side deck tech choices. He was able to take the deck to a higher level than anyone has been able to before. What is even more amazing is that he picked up the deck only a couple of days before the event due to his customary deck, Wind-UpToys, got hit hard with the new priority ruling. This just shows you what great skillful player he is.

With priority now gone he ran the max number Effect Veilers. Doing this now allowed him to have a better chance of beating the dino rabbit deck and the mirror match. This also allowed him to play on of the best top deck cards in the game, Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning.

He also played the standard monsters of the inzektor engine, Inzektor Hornet, Inzektor Dragonfly, Inzektor Centipede and Inzektor Giga-Mantis. But what was surprising to see was him using Inzektor Hopper instead of Card Trooper. I agree with this move since Card Trooper is a 1700 attack monster that can be used as another target for an in grave Inzektor Hornet. It is also has the effect of letting you attach it to any other inzektor for a direct attack. Now that’s a great effect when you absolutly need to get that last bit of damage in.

Don’t get me wrong, Card Trooper is a great card. I like the fact it can boost it attack to 1900 and allow you put cards into the grave. You could possible put an Inzektor Hornet or Inzektor Dragonfly in the grave that can be brought back to the field with Call of the Haunted. But not being able to attach an Inzektor Hornet to it or not being able get that last bit of attack in makes this a lower card than Inzektor Hopper. Good call on your part Billy.

One of the stand out cards in his deck was Safe Zone. This card is amazing in the mirror match up. Not only can it save your monster, it can kill off your opponents monster too. If you have Safe Zone set and they activate anything to destroy it, you can chain it and target one of your opponents monsters. Then Safe Zone is destroyed and activates it effect of destroying the monster it was attached to. Now that is super duper surprise.

Safe Zone YuGiOh Card Game

Now his side deck and extra deck also had tech cards in it. His secret tech card he had against Hero Beat Dino Rabbits and any high attacking monsters was none other than Messenger of Peace. The effect of this card is as follows:

Neither player can declare attacks with face-up monsters that have 1500 or more ATK. During each of your Standby Phases, pay 100 Life Points or destroy this card.

So buy paying a minor 100 life points all your monsters can’t touch me. Then when I’m ready to attack you, I can blow it up with my Inzektor Hornet and hit you over the head with my big monsters. Now most Hero and Dino Rabbit decks don’t have that many resources to take out this annoying spell. Nice tech choice on your part Billy!

Go check out his entire deck with side and extra too.

The traps cards are only seven but there is wrote “Traps 10:”. Infact there are only 27 cards…

I saw the video there aren’t 3 safe zones

shit now safezone is gonna jump up in price i was thinking about playing it in my rabbit deck

@Edoardo – Thanks for letting me know of my mistake. I forgot to put it in the trap line up. I just updated it. Keep playing good Yu-Gi’s!!

@Edoardo – Look at the video again. The safe zones are the first 3 traps he shows.

@Chucky – They already are starting to go up. It is a good card. Let’s see if we can come up with the new one hot tech card before everyone :) . Keep playing good Yu-Gi’s!!!

First of all, I wanna congratulate to this Duelist, Billy Brake for winning 3rd place.

I never realize how good Safe Zone card is. I mean why didn’t I think of it. Safe Zone on your opponent. D*** I’m such a noob. BTW, due to Tour Guide of the Underworld and Inzektor Hopper as TCG Exclusive, I’m playing as a OCG Duelist. But I do say Tour Guide is awesome. Hopper… the only thing i like this card is giving your Inzektor a direct attack. I’m surprised you didn’t add in Allure of Darkness, Pot of Duality nor Gorz. But it’s your call on your deck, not mine. Also, your video teaches me (and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelists) something and it helps me a lot about making Inzektor Deck.

Thanks for the profile deck, Billy Brake. *bows*

@Agent287 – Yes safe zone is an amazing card. Hopefully you guys in the OCG will get tour guide soon, so you can feel how we here at the TCG have been feeling about this card.

Keep Playing good Yu-Gi’s!

I think what I would change in the deck list is the three D. Fissure in the side. Does D. Fissure work in the same way as Macro? Being as, when Macro Cosmos is on the field, you cannot use hornet’s effect because it HAS to be sent to the graveyard. I’m not 100% sure if it works the same way with D. Fissure because it only designates monsters. Is Hornet treated as a monster in this way? Or is it just me over thinking? But, I would still change it to put in Allure and Duality. But that’s just me. I like having the hand control.

@Daniel – When D. fissue is on the field and you use hornet, it goes to the grave. The reason is due to hornet being an equip spell and not a monster.

with ladybug out now it would probably be best to make it 1 hopper and 1 ladybug, as well in my opinion he should also run a few more light monsters due to the chaos surge coming back, like ryko to make lightpulsar miss timimg or thunder king for the 1900 anti search boost, also trap stuns or decree for the chain disapearances that are all too common now

@Brian – good points. Let’s see what happens at nationals with the deck.

What would I change in the deck? This key card was the idea of Austin Milliron, a friend of mine who used it to win a sneak peak locals. Heart of Clear Water. Sit back and let that sink in.

But Inzektor is an easy deck to break, too. My idea for crushing the deck: Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell. Or alternatively, Anti-Spell Fragrance (not as effective as it can be destroyed. Best used with a Simorgh lock).

Wow… I run inzektors and could get pretty high in tournaments, but adding Safe Zone…. I never expected an Inzektor deck to win without Exa-Beetle/Stag. You`ve enlightened me…..

I would
-1 safe zone
-1 foolish burial
+1 gorz
+ allure of darkness
