Feng Chen Chaos Dragon Lightsworn Deck List Review Winner 2012 YCS Philidelphia

Lightpulsar Dragon Yugioh Card GameWell Hello! We have just witnessed the fall of a champion in the top 4 and the rise of a new champion. That champion deck is Chaos Dragon. It defeated both dino rabbit decks in the top 4 and duked it out in the finals.

Congrats to 1st time YCS winner, Feng Chen, for his dominating a field of over 1,400 people with his agressive and dominating deck. He had an epic battle in the finals against the mirror. Being able to make it to the finals in his first YCS just shows you that Feng is a very talented and skilled player.

He came up with a deck that used the mighty dragons from the Dragons Collide structure deck and the powerful lightsworn monsters. The deck was on peoples radars coming into the event but the combination of these two types is just to overpowering. People even main deck hate cards against it, but that did not stop Feng from overcomig them. His deck has so many boss monsters.

Since his deck was based on the powerful chaos monsters, he needed to make sure he had enough dark and light monsters in his grave. To make this happen he added the help of the lightsworn monsters. Using lightsworn monsters like, Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress and Ryko Lightsworn Hunter he is able to take full advantage of their effects of milling and destroying a back row or monster on the field. Both of which is a big plus for his deck.

Some of his boss monster included Chaos Sorcerer, Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning, Dark Armed Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and his main man Lightpulsar Dragon. The last monster being the most annoying. He basically would have a soft lock when he had both Lightpulsar Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon on the field. Something I’m sure most of his opponents were unable to come out of.

I’m sure you know this by now, when Lightpulsar Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon are on the field and some how get destroyed and sent to the grave, they both will come back to the field. It all starts with Lightpulsar Dragons effect when it is sent from the field to the graveyard, it can special summon a level 5 or higher dark dragon type monster. Guess what Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon is? You guessed right, a dark level 10 dragon type monster. So by using Lightpulsar Dragon effect you can special summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. Then you can use Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon effect of special summoning 1 Dragon-Type monster from your hand or Graveyard. Guess what dragon is in the grave? Yup, Lightpulsar Dragon. That’s what the soft lock is all about.

No only did the deck have the soft lock combo, it also utilized some of the best forgotten syncro monsters. Monsters like, Brionac Dragon of the Ice Barrier, Arcanite Magician, and Scrap Dragon. Since he played a playset of Effect Veilers, he had access to create these syncro monsters. A big bonus and surprise factor he has up his sleeves.

I think this was a great deck to play at Philidelphia. It has a great match up against the other top 2 decks , dino rabbit and inzektors. Even if people where prepared for it, they could not stop it. This deck can just top deck a win out of thin air. It summoms huge monsters that are able to return from the dead, but also has cards that make the opponent use there monster removal on the lesser valued monsters. So Feng was able to protect his big plays. Great deck piloted by a good player. That’s why it was able to make it all the way to the finals and take out the 2 time champion.

I think you will start to see this deck pop up more in your locals since most of the deck is within the Dragons Collide structure deck. Buy 3 of them and add some of your own tech and your good to go!

Just have a question here, if you send eclipse wyvern from your hand Or deck with darkflares effect, can u still use wyverns effect to send a dragon from your deck to the grave? Because people told me that it misses timing..

commenter

@Joshua – You still get wyverns effect. It can’t miss timing since it’s a mandatory effect.

[...] Fusion – This card is just plain broken in the Chaos Dragon Deck. Whenever this card is played on you, it really is a message your opponent is saying to you. Which [...]

commenter

@Joshua It will still banish a dragon type monster from your deck, but you will not be able to return that monster to your hand

commenter

(If you banish the wyvern you just sent with Dark Flare’s effect in the same chain)

commenter

If one tributes E-HERO Shining for another monster will Shining miss the timing to activate it’s effect?

commenter

How does he get Arcanite Magician out?

commenter

@Paul – yes the it will miss its timing. Since the monster you are summoning is the last thing to happen.

commenter

@Vince – he can use lyla and an effect veiler to bring it out.

commenter

what monsters do you usually mill for future fusion

commenter

@kikoa – It all depends what you have in your hand and already in the grave yard. You usually will want to put in the Eclipse Wyvern so you can remove a dragon from your deck. You will also want to put Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and maybe Lightpulsar Dragon. Hope this helped.
Keep playing good YuGi’s!!!

How he can bring arcanite magician out with just lyla and veiler that only makes 5 stars he still needs another 2 more stars don’t make sences

commenter

im on a budget, what do you recommend to replace for effect vielers, bls, and tour guide. plus i have no extra deck, just got back into yugioh btw lol

commenter

if you are on a low budget you should run a blue eyes chaos dragon deck. use your red eyes darkness to get out blue eyes and then you can xyz summon the blue eyes for thunder end dragon or divine dragon of helopolis or sumtin like that. buy three structure decks of dragons collide and try to find a five headed future fusion and those 2 other xyz cards i said. that could be a good start.

commenter

@Kikoa – Those cards are hard to replace since one is a boss monster, the other is a monster that can turn into a boss monster and the last stops people from making thier plays. no sure they can be replaced. You can just try and use more light and dark monsters. Maybe use 3 Chaos Sorcerer, card trooper and more lightsworm monsters.

commenter

@Marcos – I’m sorry, I meant to say chaos sorcerer not Lyla.

[...] side deck was focused on what is considered the top 3 decks, Chaos Dragons, Dino Rabbit and Inzektor. He had the regulars, Snowman Eater and Shadow Imprisoning Mirror. But I [...]

[...] Oh, one more thing: If you think Chaos Dragons are not competitive, you make a big mistake. Just look at the regional and national championships there are a lot of people who won a title with a Chaos Dragon build in TCG and in OCG, like Tan Sung Lee (Malaysian Nationals Winner 2012), Muci Izci (German Nationals Winner 2012), Michail Paraschos (European Championship 2012), Feng Chen (YCS Philadelphia Winner 2012). I run a Very similar deck but I was curious of what u thought about magic merchant. It’s a light type and once it’s flipped u keep sending cards to ur grave till u get a magic card and with the low amount of spells u usually get at lest 2 or 3 cards in the grave plus your drawing a card. But I am still unsure about this card.

In response to Marcos question on how he brings out Arcanite, example: opponent has Redmd + Lightpulsar. He can clear those two with just 2 cards in his hand. Special summonchaos sorceror, and remove light pulsar, then normal summon effect veiler and then syncro for arcanite. thats 7 stars right there, and he can then use 1 counter to destroy redmd. (even if opponent DOES have veiler, he can still clear the field with two counters).

This deck really rules. Well, I mean i’ve been using the same deck as this in DN and i’ve been winning about 40 duels until now. Thanks for this YD. GL on your site and God Bless :)

how will get five headed dragon out??
