Is Gold Series 4 Rares Worth the Money? – Review

Doomcaliber Knight YuGiOh Card GameSo Konami finally revealed all the gold rares that are coming in Gold Series 4. As with past gold series you would expect to get holo versions of cards that either have been out of print for some time or never have been in a holo version. With this gold series they have kept to this game plan but also off it too.

You see they give us Doomcaliber Knight which is one of those hard to find expensive cards. This is great, but the down fall is this is the only card they included in that category. Many or the other rare cards they included are either limited or banned. Ah…Konami what’s up with that????

If you are like me, if I get 2 copies of Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning, Royal Oppression or Morphing Jar I’m going to be pissed. Raise your hand if you need 2 copies of banned and limited cards… I don’t see your hand up…..

To top it off, they give us cards that have holo versions that are not really hard to find. Hello!!! Is it really hard to find a holo Ryko Lightsworn Hunter or Pot of Avarice? I don’t think so.

Not to knock it any more but they do give us a holo version of Trap Stun. This at least keeps to old school gold series of putting holo versions of cards that have never been holo. This is a good card, since it does see a lot of play. But other than that, no new holo versions of non holo cards. Bummer!!!

Since we don’t know what the commons are I can’t say any much about the set. But just basing the set on the rares, I’m not impressed with the set. Especially for the $30.00 price tag it has on it too. I know it will come with a mat, but does anyone really care about the mat? I’m saving my money and passing on this. I just might buy a pack for the store mat for little man. But that is a might….

Here is a list of all the rares we can expect to get out of this set
Obelisk the Tormentor
Doomcaliber Knight
Gravekeeper’s Spy
Tytannial Princess of Camellias
Five Headed Dragon
Royal Oppression
Chaos Sorcerer
Morphing Jar
Celestia Lightsworn Angel
Toon Table of Contents
Trap Stun
Darklord Zerato
Summoner Monk
Pot of Avarice
Spirit Reaper
Ryko Lightsworn Hunter
Gladiator Beast Gyzarus

What do you think of the Gold Series 4 set? Let a brother know below.
