Hi everyone. This past weekend I played at one of my local spots and won a half box of Order of Chaos. I was playing my version of the Hero Beat with Skill Drain. I have been playing this deck for the past 2 weeks and felt it is a deck that can take down the decks I would be facing.
This was a 16 player tournament. The playing format is 4 rounds of swiss then straight to top 4. There were some good player there, even the reigning North American national champ Hansel Aguero.
Here are how my rounds went:
Round 1 against Greg playing a new deck he created
Game 1 all I saw was him playing Tour Guide From the Underworld. The Tour Guide From the Underworld got a tour bus and he XYZ into a Wind-Up Zenmaines. I then summoned a monster and set a Skill Drain and passed. He then drew and passed. I then summoned another monster and XYZ into Number 39: Utopia, fliped the Skill Drain and attacked his Wind-Up Zenmaines. From there that was pretty much game.
Game 2 he went first and set a monster. I summoned a Elemental HERO Stratos and got a Elemental HERO Neos Alius. I attacked and he fliped a Gellenduo. Now I needed to figure out how to get over it. Luck for me I drew a Gemini Spark the next turn and used it on my newly summoned Elemental HERO Neos Alius. His next turn he played Tour Guide From the Underworld again and XYZ ino Wind-Up Zenmaines again. This time I actually had a Cyber Dragon in hand. So on my turn I got rid of Wind-Up Zenmaines by using my Cyber Dragon and his Wind-Up Zenmaines to bring out Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. Then I used my Miracle Fusion to brig out the shining. From there he was not able to come back. So far 1 – 0 and a good start.
Round 2 against Hansel’s brother playing Dino Rabbit
Game 1 was a great game. We both went back in forth taking control of the board. I really don’t remember exact plays except him having control with Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning on board and a back row. I had nothing except Elemental HERO Stratos, Monster Reborn and a Dark Hole in hand. I play dark hole to get rid of Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning. He flips his back row, oh man it was a Forbidden Lance. So he saved his monster but also lowered it’s attack to 2200. I started to think what can I do to get rid of it. I then played Elemental HERO Stratos, got a Elemental HERO Neos Alius, then used Monster Reborn on my Thunder King Rai-Oh. Then use them both to XYZ summon Number 39: Utopia. Attacked his Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning with Number 39: Utopia and got it off the board. From there I keep the pressure on him and finally won.
Game 2 was also a great game. All I remembr was how he started and how the game ended. He summoned Rescue Rabbit into Evolzar Laggia his first turn. I played a smashing ground which he negated with Evolzar Laggia’s effect. I then dont’t remember any game play details until his very last turn. I had a Elemental Hero Absolute Zero and a set Super Polymerization with one card in hand. He playes prohibition and names Miracle Fusion then summons Tour Guide From the Underworld. Which he gets him another Tour Guide From the Underworld from his deck and XYZ summons Wind-Up Zenmaines and passes. I then flip Super Polymerization, discard my in hand card, use my zero and his Wind-Up Zenmaines to bring out Nova master. I draw my card and it’s a monster. I summon the monster and attack with both to get his life points down to 0. I’m now 2-0 so far so good!
Round 3 against Gusieppie playing chaos dragon
Game 1 he just beats me down with his big dragons. All I remember about this game was him gettig the lock down on me with his Pulsar dragon and red metal dragon on board. Nothing else to say about this game.
Game 2 I should have lost but he misplayed with his summoning of his monsters. He should have been able to kill me on this one particular turn but he didn’t play his Monster Reborn to get my last amount of life. Instead he leaves me with 1200 attack and I’m some how able to come back and take him down.
Game 3 was called into time. So we had to play 5 turns and the peson with the highest life points at the end of those turns wins.
Turn 1: He does nothing except draw and says pass.
Turn 2: I daw, summon a Thunder King Rai-Oh, set a back row and say pass. I didn’t want to attack and let him get a Gorz the Emissary of Darkness on the field.
Turn 3: He summons a wyvern then removes it to red metal. I then used thunder king to negate the summon. He the sets a back row.
Turn 4: I Monster Reborn his red metal and attack. He does nothing and takes it. I set a back row and pass.
Turn 5: He can’t do anyting to get rid of the dragon and deal 2900 damage to me.
I win a match I should not have won, but as I’ve said any time before, take advantage of your opponents misplays.
So far 3-0 AY YEAH! One more round to go!
Round 4 against ??? playing chaos dragon
Game 1 I thought I had control of the game. He didn’t have any big dragons on the field while I was hitting him with my monsters. Then bam! One turn he was able to remove my field and summon the exact amount of monster damage to getme to 0. How quickly the tables where turned on me.
Game 2 went even quicker since he was able to play Future Fusion. I thought I was in good shape since I had 2 D.D. Crow in hand. Once resolved his wyvern effect I chained the 2 D.D. Crow, removing his 2 pulsar. He summoned a dragon and specialed a red metal. I had nothing to deal with it and 2 turn later the 5 headed dragon comes out and finishes me off.
So I went 3-1 in the swiss. Lossing to the only undefeated player sort of guaranteed me in the top 4. But also it made sure I wouldn’t have to play him in the first round of top 4 too.
Yeah I made top 4! So did Gusieppie and Julien. Gusieppie had to play ??? and I paired against Julien.
Top 4 Round 1 against Julien playing wind-ups
Game 1 I win the die roll and summon Elemental HERO Stratos, get Elemental HERO Neos Alius and set 1 back row. He draws and summons Tour Guide From the Underworld. I respond by flipping over Skill Drain. Which pretty much put him in a bad position. He was not able to do anything else except set a back row and pass. I summon Elemental HERO Neos Alius and attack his Tour Guide From the Underworld with Elemental HERO Stratos and direct hit him with Elemental HERO Neos Alius. I set another bak row and pass. He eventially does not have a way to get rid of the Skill Drain and I win.
Game 2 I really don’t remember much except that I really helped him with getting my life points down to 2000 by using a Solemn Judgment then Solemn Warning. He pretty was able to deal the final 2000 point of damage.
Game 3 I start off by summoning aleius and settin a back row. He summons Tour Guide From the Underworld and I flip my set card, Skill Drain again. He raises his hands and puts on a face of disbeleif and says, “Oh my god!” He does put up a fight by using Bottomless Trap Hole on my next 2 monsters. But I actually had a 3rd monster and that kept on hitting him for 1900 each of the following turns. I then finally got a Reinforcement of the Army and he just conceded when I activated it.
Yeah! I’m in the top 2. Gusieppie was the other top player. We both agreed to split the box. He took the right side packs and I took the left. I had a great time playing and winning actually boosted my Yu-Gi ego. I’m feeling like I’m on top of the world and no one is going to take me down.
I got 12 packs, check out the video below to see what I pulled.
