Mermail Atlantean Deck List Review 2012

Mermail Abyssmegalo YuGiOh Card GameSo the new kid on the block has made a huge impact on the current format. It has many top spots at the recent YCS’s. It even has come in second in the last 2 YCS’s. This new deck is Mermail Atlantean.

This is one of those decks that you will have to be fearing from here on out. It comes on strong and keeps a hold on its strong position. If you don’t know already, it combines Mermail monsters and Atlantean monsters. The Mermails discard the Atlanteans and then use the Atlanteans effects to either destroy a card on the field or search for another powerful card. While not really losing any board or hand position. It’s a scary thing to look at!!

I would like to look at a version that made top 4 in the 2012 YCS Seattle. I really like this build due to it’s trap line up.You see most of these decks do not run many trap cards. The main trap they use is Abyss-sphere. Which allows them to bait out the Mystical Space Typhoon and allows them to bring out some amazing monster, like Mermail Abysslinde. But what this deck included was the amazing card Spiritual Water Art.

Spiritual Water Art allows you to look at what your opponent has in hand and makes them discard one of those cards. Making your opponent discard the best card they have in their hand is amazing. But the reason why I like this card is due to you getting the information to what your opponent was in hand. Meaning you know what you have to look out for and what to do to bring your opponent to their knees.

This build also ran 2 Genex Controller and 2 Tragoedia. Which allowed the use of Allure of Darkness. This card allows you to dig deeper into your deck while have a use for the useless Genex Controller you have in your hand. Since this deck already does a lot of searching, with Genex Undine, Deep Sea Diva ,etc., you should be getting key pieces you need.

@Yugiolocker- there are so many different ways to make a water deck. I would say try it out and see if it fits your play style. You also have to consider what other people will be playing during your tournament. So add cards that will be useful and take out the ones that will not.
Keep playing good YuGi’s!!

Something is off. Monster count based on list is 23, not 24. This also leaves the deck one card short if I worked the math out right.

@Yami-cider – You are right there is one monster missing. Funny how it’s one of the boss monsters in the deck, Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord.
I just updated the list. Thanks for letting me know.

Keep playing good YuGi’s!!
