Mono Mermail Water Deck List Review Billy Brake 2013 YCS Miami Third Place

YuGiOh Mermail Abyssgaios Card GameBilly Brake has done it again! He has surprised everyone with a new inovative water deck build. He has named this new build Mono Mermail.

His version of the Water deck is pretty different from what has become the standard version. He does not play with Genex Undine, Genex Controller, Salvage and the powerful Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord. Instead it runs the over looked Abyss-Squall, Mermail Abyssgaios and the new additions from Cosmo Blazer Mermail Abyssteus and Mermail Abyssleed.

Mermail Abyssteus, is a level 7 water monster that triggers all of the other monster effects while searching out any level 4 or lower Mermail, from the deck, to fit the current situation.

Abyss-Squall is like a Return from the different dimension for Mermails from the grave. It special summons 3 Mermail monsters in defense mode, there effects are negated, and they die during the end phase. So if you happen to have any combination of Mermail Abyssteus, Mermail Abyssmegalo or Mermail Abyssleed, Abyss-Squall will then give you access to rank 7 XYZ monster such as Number 11: Big Eye and Mermail Abyssgaios.

Check out one of Billy’s favorite turn one plays with the deck.

Cards in Hand – any combination of Mermail Abyssteus, Atlantean Dragoons, and Mermail Abyssmegalo/Mermail Abyssleed. Activate Mermail Abyssteus effect paying the cost by discarding Atlantean Dragoons, search your deck for Mermail Abyssgunde with Mermail Abyssteus and Mermail Abyssmegalo/Mermail Abyssleed (Whichever one you don’t have) with Atlantean Dragoons effect. Activate Mermail Abyssmegalo’s effect to discard Mermail Abyssgunde and Mermail Abyssleed. Search your deck for Abyss-sphere or Abyss-Squall depending on the rest of your hand, then special summon back Mermail Abyssleed with Mermail Abyssgunde’s effect. Tribute your face-up attack position Mermail to send a card from your opponent’s hand to the grave and then overlay with the remaining two for Mermail Abyssgaios and in most cases proceed to win the game!
