Traviis Massengale 2011 YCS Orlando Winner Zombie Plant Chaos Reanimator Deck Review

Goblin Zombie YuGiOh cards As I have been saying in past arcticles, I’m loving this format. There is no supreme deck that has taken over the format. As with past YCS’s there is a new deck winning, Zombie Plant Choas Reanimator. It was taking down all the popular decks, such as six samurai, gravekeeper’s, x-sabers, etc..

Congrats to 1st time YCS winner, Traviis Massengale, for his dominating a field of over 800 people with his innovative and creative deck. He came up with a stunning control deck using the powers of zombies combined with key plant monsters and a splash of beasts. With those monster types he was able to bring out the mighty Trishula Dragon of the Ice Barrier very easly. Which in most cases means he will win soon!!!

Traviis’s deck list has many interactive cards that once played got him many +1′s and sometime +2′s and +3s. He used the searching powers of the goblins to find and reuse key goblin cards. Such as using pyramid turtle to be able to special summon any goblin from his deck. He also used key plant cards to either get out the powerfull Tytannial Princess of Camellias or synchro into power syncro monster like, Trishula Dragon of the Ice Barrier, Scrap Dragon, Brionac Dragon of the Ice Barrier, Black Rose Dragon.

As with most YCS championship decks there is one card that stands out as a game changer, that card in Traviis’s deck is Creature Swap. He would set any of his recruiter monsters or special effect monster and creature swap it with his opponents powerful monster. Attack into the monster he set and get the monsters effect. Big pluses there!!! Also creature swap is not like mind control, you do not have to return the monster at the end of turn. You get to keep it until they figure out how to get rid of it. Meaning they are wasting their cards on killing their own monster instead of yours.

He also used Nobleman of Extermination as an additional way to get rid of his oppenents back row. This was a really good play on his part since he only ran 7 trap cards. With all the special summoning and recruiters in his deck, he would have already drawn some of his own trap cards. Thus setting them before he played the extermination. His opponent would loose their cards and he would possibley lose none. A great card to add to this deck. Good call on your part Traviis.

Most of his trap cards are defensive traps. Meaning, I don’t want you to be able to do certain things. Want to summon a creature? Nope I have Solemn Warning and Solemn Judgment to stop that. I even got it covered if you do get a monster on the field with Torrential Tribute. Oh man you all ready have a creature on the field and you are attacking, I got Mirror Force. You destroyed one my monster, well I guess I’ll have to bring it back with Call of the Haunted.
