YuGiOh Cards That Got Better With The TCG September 2013 Ban List

Bad Meaning GoodSo the new TCG ban list was a shocker. Now that the dust has settled and everyone has absorded it’s impact on the game, it’s time look and see what cards got better.

With Heavy Storm no longer an issue, as well as the still banned Giant Trunade not coming back, we no longer have a 1 card spell that can punish us for setting back row. We still have the 3 Mystical Space Typhoons as well as other less traditional spell/trap removal. But nothing as powerful as Heavy Storm.

So now everyone is saying we are going into a summon monster and set 5 back row format. I truely believe we may start the format that way, but eventually I see people limiting their set cards. I say this due to all of us getting smarter with the traps we play. If you think about it, we really set traps more than spells. With that being said I’m sure many of you will play better traps to negate your opponents traps. Or play traps that not only focus on destroying or removing monsters from the field. Thus here is a list of traps and spells I feel got better with the new ban list.

FYI, I will be updating this list as I think of new cards. I would like you to also comment below with card(s) you feel got better. I will add those cards to this list and of course give you credit for putting up the card. If you happen to have a YouTube channel, I can place a link to your channel right next to the card name.

Forbidden Lance Yu-Gi-Oh Card GameForbidden Lance
this card comes to mind when I think of stopping spell/trap cards that try to get a monster off the field. It can be used to save your monster from any of the spell/ trap removal available. You can sort of think of this card as a Mystical Space Typhoon since it gets rid of spell/trap card that was on the field. This is probably going to be the most used spell card, so be on the look out for it.

Forbidden Chalice and Forbidden Dress
I feel these other 2 forbidden cards will see some played too. One protects your monster while the other can negate a monsters effect and boost it’s attack by 400. Both good cards and in the right deck can be very very dangerous.

Trap Stun
This card just stops your opponet from stopping you make your one play. Need to make sure your monster gets and stays on the field. Flip Trap Stun first and they can’t play any traps for the rest of the turn. You don’t even have to worry about Solemn Judgment any more.

Seven Tools of the Bandit
Need a way to stop that one trap card, then just pay 1000 life points to do it. This is an oldie but goodie card that use to see a lot of play back in the days when Heavy Storm was banned. Can it come back again?

Fiendish Chain YuGiOh Cards GameSkill Drain
Now that we are going to be limited to the amount of monster removal we can play, we need to look at how we can stop the effect of these monsters. This card can just stop all monster effects. No Ands, Ifs, Buts, or supposes will allow a monster effect to completely activate if this is on the field. Oh! You detach 1 Xyz material to active …. Flip Skill Drain and say “I don’t think so!”

Fiendish Chain
Need to negate a monster effect and not get hit with that monster too. Then this is the card for you. There are only 3 Mystical Space Typhoons and your opponent will have to think a lot about to use the Mystical Space Typhoon or not to use the Mystical Space Typhoon on this card. Make them sweat thinking about it!!!

Book of Moon
Looking for a card that can stop your opponent from syncho summoning or Xyz into a game chaning monster, while also making sure it doesn’t get to attack you. Then just end your search here. This one spell card does that and more. I believe you will see this become a must have in all decks. Just like it use to be back in the day. Do any of you remember being able to play with 3 copies of these?

Call of the Haunted
Now that Monster Reborn is not around again. This card can be a suitable replacement. I know it doesn’t allow you to get your opponents monsters, but it can get that one key monster from yours. Again with only 3 Mystical Space Typhoons, your opponent will have to think long and hard to allow you get that monster. Making them think hard can cause them to make mistakes. It’s your job to capitalize on their mistakes!!!

Night Beam
Being there are only 3 Mystical Space Typhoons can we finally see this card being used? I think it’s possible since it can stop your opponet from activating the set trap/spell. Being able to blow up a Compulsory Evacuation Device or a set Forbidden Lance is really good before you summon your monster.

Royal Decree
Need to stop all trap cards from ever activating. Where is the king of them all. No wonder why it has Roayal in it’s name. Flip this over and no one is able to play any traps as long as this card is flipped up. It’s funny how important those Mystical Space Typhoons are going to be.

Well these are the cards I have thought of so far. As I said above, I would like you to also comment below with card(s) you feel got better. I will add those cards to this list and of course give you credit for putting up the card. If you happen to have a YouTube channel, I can place a link to your channel right next to the card name.

Have fun with this new ban list and keep playing good YuGi’s!!!

We might even see cards like malevolent catastrophe in play. I also expect to see certain decks run icarus attack and armor blast.

Malevolent might see some play. But I don’t think it’s going to be the go to card. I can Icarus seeing some play in blackwings.
Keep playing good YuGi’s!!!
